Factory, designed by Carl Diem. Route of torch run from Olympia
to Berlin on shaft, legend on top. Carried during the first torch
relay from Olympia, Greece to Berlin, a distance of 3075 km in

18, 1937. The Dutch NOC had asked him for a manuscript on January
27 and Coubertin replies with a question about the required date.
Signed "Pierre de Coubertin". With arrival date stamped
on front. Coubertin died on September 2, 1937. Very faint damp

service by the Organising Committee helped visitors by car to
find their way through Berlin, especially dignitaries. Abt. VF,

331. Unique Photo Album of a French IOC Member Documenting his
Visit to the XIth Olympic Games in Berlin 1936. Brown linen, 33x24.2cm
(13"x9.5") oblong, containing 31 stiff cardboard pages
with 63 pages filled with about 85 pasted-in documents which he
received in his function as IOC member in Berlin.
A two-page handwritten letter by Pierre de Coubertin starts the
album. Numerous invitations, brochures, addresses, identity cards
for the Berlin Olympic Games and his Honor Pass to all events;
complete IOC Session documentation, July 29 and 30. Many inaugurations
and respective addresses of all events connected to the Olympic
games; invitation by Goebbels with an actual photo of Goebbels
and Hitler, instructions to entry of Hitler and IOC members at
opening ceremony; IOC dinner with seating assignment close to
Hitler; a dinner reception by Hitler; the first class Olympic
Order diploma with original ink signature by Hitler. Also included
are postcards and photos. Most interesting are his handwritten
notes for each day and his comments throughout the album. Generally

Lt. Mylius, Switzerland. Color rings on cover, 50x36cm (19.9"x14.1"),
114 stiff cardboard pages. The photos range from the Olympic trials
in Basel, October 1935, the Olympic Games in Berlin to International
Championships in Paris and Dublin, 1937. 46 pages document the
1936 Berlin equestrian events with 45 photos, maps, official lists
of equestrian participants and results, Berlin, 1936 Olympic telegram,
numerous newspaper clippings, etc. Lt. Mylius placed 8th in the
Individual Three Day Event; the course was so difficult that only
