ATLANTA, 26th OLYMPIC GAMES, 1996
634. The 1996 International Centennial Olympic Relay Torch. Silvered
aluminum and wood, 55cm (21.7"). Names of all 23 Olympic
cities from 1896 to 1996 inscribed on torch. The Hellenic Olympic
Committee celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the 1896 Olympic
Games in the Panathenean Stadium in Athens on April 6, 1996. Part
of this celebration was the re-enactment of the 1896 Games. Olympic
medallists and representatives of all cities who had hosted the
Olympic Games since 1896 took part in the torch run within the
stadium. Afterwards, they took the torches back to their Olympic
cities for a ceremony. Unused. EF, small bump. ($1,500)
635. Official Torch. Aluminum and Georgia pecan wood, 80cm (31.5")
length, designed by Peter Mastrogiannis. 22 reeds represent the
cities where Olympic games were held since 1896. Gathered by 2
goldplated brass bands, the top band displays the Atlanta torch
logo and the quilt of leaves design, the bottom band lists all
Olympic cities since 1896. The wooden pecan handle represents
the connection of the flame between heaven and earth. The flame
was lit in Olympia. It reached Los Angeles on April 27 and ended
84 days later in Atlanta carried by 10,000 relay runners, horses,
bicycles, trains, ships, and hydroplanes. EF. ($1,500)
636. Small Size Rome 1960 Silver Torch Presented by CONI (Italian
NOC) to Italian Gold Medal Winners in Atlanta 1996. Cast silver,
hallmarked "800", 27.5cm (10.8"), by Paolillo Co.,
Rome. Nr. 56 of 100 made for CONI and sponsor Assitalia. EF. With
brochure, in large wooden presentation case, velvet lined, with
plaque. ($1,500)
637. Participation Medal. Bronze, 60mm. Official torch logo. Rev.
Quilt of leaves. Unc, cased. ($175)
638. Complete Set of 32 American Team Pins. In wooden case, under
glass. Each athlete and some officials received a set from the
U.S.O.C. They were never available to the public. New. ($375)
c639. Very Rare Greek Ancient Sports Amphora. Presented to President
Samaranch and other High Dignitaries at the Dedication of the
Atlanta Olympic Stadium on May 18, 1996. Multicolor, handpainted
ceramic in the ancient Greek style, 48.3cm (19") high, made
in Athens. One of 20 vases. EF. ($6,000)

Signed in black ink by Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Shack O'Neil,
Scotty Pippin, etc. on Spalding's "USA Basketball".

c641. Official Set of Eight Relay Batons. Each 29.5cm (11.6")
long, made by Porta Pit. All are colored differently, lane numbered
1 to 8, and they feature the Centennial Games logo. These batons
